What is Crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding leverages online donations by a broad base of supporters to fund specific projects. It is:

-Technology-enabled and driven by online contributions.

-Driven by those who will benefit most from gifts.

-Funds a specific project with a deadline for support and a defined dollar goal.

-Amplified by social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to allow contributors to share their support and encourage others to join the effort.

-Embracing of a wide range of donors

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card is charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the site.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

All philanthropic contributions to Gettysburg College are tax-deductible as prescribed by law.

Will I receive a receipt for my contribution?

Gettysburg College will email you an electronic receipt for your contribution shortly after you make your gift.

What happens to my gift if a project is not completely funded?

If Gettysburg College determines that the project cannot be performed in whole or in part because it has not been fully funded, the College may use the funds to support other projects or purposes that closely align with the educational and/or charitable intentions of the project.

What happens to my gift if the fundraising goal is surpassed?

If the funds raised exceed the financing needs of the project, Gettysburg College may apply the excess funds to support other projects or purposes that it believes closely align with the educational and/or charitable intentions of the project.
